Real Madrid "crippled", 36 injuries for Ancelotti's team

Real Madrid are facing a major defensive crisis at one of the most important moments of the season. Another injury has hit Ancelotti's side, leaving them with almost no options at the back for their first leg against Manchester City in the Champions League.

After the notable absences of Carvajal, Militao, Alaba and Rudiger, Lucas Vazquez is now also out for an indefinite period. The Spanish defender has suffered a muscle injury in his left leg, which will rule him out of Tuesday's match at the Etihad Stadium. This situation has alarmed coach Ancelotti, who now has to improvise a completely new defense to stop City's fearsome attack.

Real Madrid have been hit by an endless wave of injuries this season, registering a total of 36 injuries, 26 of which are muscular and 10 are trauma. This situation has significantly affected the team's performance and has caused the coach to lack stability in the formation. The defensive deficiencies are the most noticeable, as the Italian coach has now lost two right-backs and three center-backs, forcing him to make forced tactical moves.

Currently, Real Madrid only have three first-team defenders available: Mende, Garcia and Vallejo, the latter of whom is not part of the coach's plans and has had very few minutes this season.

Because of this situation, Ancelotti may be forced to use two midfielders in defensive roles. Valverde and Tsuameni could be deployed at the back, with Valverde playing on the right wing and Tsuameni in the center. On the left wing, one of the two natural defenders, Garcia or Mendy, will play.

Vasquez has been at his physical limits for weeks. He has had ongoing muscle concerns, which have prevented him from playing in several games this season as a precaution.

This is the second time this season that Vasquez has suffered a serious injury, following the one on November 9th, which kept him out of the field for 17 days.

With an improvised formation and no natural defender in the center of the backline, the Madrid team will have an extremely difficult task to stop City stars such as Haaland, Foden and De Bruyne.
