Ramos to return to Europe, decides to leave Mexico

Sergio Ramos has decided not to continue his adventure in the Mexican championship. After his transfer to Monterrey in February, a move that marked his first departure from European football, the 39-year-old defender is nearing the end of this chapter. His contract with the Mexican club expires in December, and according to “El Chiringuito” and the newspaper “AS”, Ramos does not intend to renew.

The reasons for this choice are divided into two main directions. Firstly, reports indicate that the footballer has not fully adapted to the pace of life in Mexico.

Although Monterrey initially managed to convince him with the sporting project and the role it could offer him in the team, his personal adaptation has not been easy. This has led Ramos to consider a return to the continent where he built most of his career and reputation.

Secondly, one of the main motivations is related to the Spanish National Team and the possibility of being included in the 2026 World Cup roster.

The renowned defender believes that playing for a European club with high exposure and a stronger competitive level will increase his chances of being scouted by coach Luis de la Fuente. Spain's World Cup target remains clear and Ramos aims to be part of that group, despite his age and the fierce competition in the defensive department.

On the sporting side, Ramos has maintained the physique and experience that have characterized him throughout his career, while believing he can still contribute at the highest levels of European football.

Returning to a well-known championship is seen by him as a necessary step to remain in the spotlight and to prove that he continues to be ready for national representation.
