The FIFA ranking is published, the two draws cost Albania a lot

Despite the European qualification, the two draws in the last matches with Moldova and the Faroe Islands have cost Albania heavily in the FIFA rankings.

As they are the team with the lowest coefficient, the draws count as a negative result and Albania lose 14.13 points in total which will bring a noticeable drop in the FIFA ranking update next week.

To be precise, Albania has dropped from the 59th place to the 62nd, and this greatly affects the draw for the World Cup qualifiers. The ranking also determines the division of pots and being in 30th place among the European teams, Albania will be part of the third pot.

But this is a problem because in the World Cup qualifiers, the groups are divided by 4 or 5 teams and only the first one qualifies directly. In this way, Albania would be drawn with 2 stronger rivals on paper.
