Rudi Vata, the former captain of the Albanian national football team, is convinced that with the way the football system is built in our country, the Albanian clubs are destined to go bankrupt. Speaking to "Panorama Sport", he also showed how the situation is with his son, who currently represents Ireland with the ages, but also what he expects from the Albanian national football team under Silvinho's leadership.
"I regularly follow Albanian football, when you are a part of football, and when you were a part when God gave birth to you in that country, you can't help but always be interested in what happens in your country and your hometown. Football is an important part of my life, it has made good things for my life, through it I have also been built as a person. Albanian football has always been in my interest and will always remain so.
I think that the Albanian championship, in my opinion, is a championship that is fought to achieve something, but all teams generally come out lost, even though they win a Cup or a championship. But I see that the clubs have big, all-round shortcomings and I think that a system has been built that the clubs have to go bankrupt. In the way the Albanian football system works, the clubs are generally bankrupt, and I don't think that a club will be successful in all directions, from the football school to the results, the most important is the financial aspect which is essential for a club. I think clubs are programmed by the system to go bankrupt. When you have financial problems, of course you will have different problems later.
The first is lack of discipline. In a successful country, there is always discipline and organization. In Albania, even the Albanian state is disorganized. When you have an unorganized and undisciplined state, you will certainly have such institutions. This is a historically dictatorial country, in all institutions there are mini-dictators who play the role of the strong, but they do not achieve their goal. The goal is to raise people with values, athletes are made through work and seriousness, not through nepotistic situations, favors that are given to them. Here we are not talking about a program to develop young boys, to make them good people. Everything is wrongly measured with the lek and he is God for all Albanians. People go to leku in the most wrong way possible, through football aim at leku, but to get there with football you need strong programs, serious, dedicated and disciplined people. Unfortunately, Albanians lack strong structures, it is the system, it regulates and destroys. It is good for the people running the system. He has managed to convince the players that it is good that they manage to catch a little something, but they are generally sad failures, they do not like the game of the system, but they are forced to be part of it.
My son has not chosen any representative team because he did not become a player to be in a national team. Of course, in Albania there are people who say 'Vata is a traitor'. What impresses you the most is that those who stole the most, betrayed the jersey the most, they make the moralist point the finger at me. Meanwhile, I neither asked for the boy to be part of a national team, nor did I make a decision. I have climbed the career ladder normally and gradually, I have crossed all age groups. To get through it all, you need work culture and mentality from a young age. This leads to the goal of being a player of a great national team. There are many who reach U21, but very few pass the final, the last hurdle. As long as we haven't reached that hurdle, it's pointless to even discuss it. For me, the important thing is that the boy has taken the right steps, has the right development, is within expectations. There is work to be done to pass the last hurdle, to be valuable for a national team. If this day comes, of course the table is there to discuss, that in life you have to make important decisions that serve people for the continuation of life. If we are going to have conversations like in Albania, which is discussed at the table and ends there, I am not one of them. I'm for serious projects and serious goals, I'm not part of the matrapaz, I'm not sold or bought. I try to convey this to my children, it is not easy to be a father who has ambitions. Family is important and when you have children to raise it is a big responsibility. This is how I built my family, through my ideas.
The first experience in Albania, when I had a moment when I had the energy to contribute to Albanian football, I offered myself. I have realized that there are many differences in terms of cultural mentality. I am an Albanian product, born here, but 32 years since I spent abroad, I have grown a lot in all directions, because all these experiences have helped me understand how life and normal things work. When you are used to normal things, when you come to Albania to build something, you have a group of people against you, and it is impossible that you do not find the ground to grow.
These people are the ones who don't want to work, that everything can be achieved through work, that to build a football team you must have professionally educated people first, people who have responsibility.
I became the coach of Vllaznia in 2011. I have believed since then that the municipality had maximum interest in taking Vllaznia of Shkodra to the levels it deserves. I was disappointed to see the responsible people who did not have the same interest, I found nepotistic situations, situations with people who had no values ??for the Vllaznia of Shkodra. If I want to work, I want people with winning character, people who do not give up, have human values ??and who take the responsibilities, the decisions they make for someone else's children, think of them as their own. But I don't find this in Albania. Either they think short, or they are lazy. He doesn't have the energy to think or work.
The situation of Vllaznia? The brotherhood is weak, very weak. At the moment, Vllazni has lost the chemistry of the team, the chemistry with the fans is very important. The fan is disconnected because he is disappointed by the players. The players have some name, they are paid very well, but the product has been very bad, it has not managed to get the most out of these players.
Changing coaches was a big mistake, I don't think it was the coach's fault. Josa has been very successful in the Albanian championship, he has also appeared in groups in Europe, he has won cup championships and everything. He was the one who took him to Europe, winning the Cup. For me it was wrong and hasty. It's not just Vllaznia, it's general in Albanian football, it happens in every club, you find these problems endlessly. This always comes from uncontrolled emotions, frequent reactions, but everything must be analyzed and thought through when making a decision. Firing a coach is not like firing a field worker. The coach is very important and keep in mind that a coach like Josa is a kind of miniature Ancelotti's Hat for the Albanian championship, he has won a lot and done very good things in the Albanian championship. you can't remove it in such a way that it doesn't make sense. Successful coaches cannot leave so quickly, with names like Duro and Josa, Albanian football has lost. Even from the way the coaches are treated. I also feel the treatment given to them, they are not free because they are not allowed to make important decisions.
These coaches like Josa, Daja, Duro, Shehi are coaches who have normally had some kind of success as football players and coaches. If you don't respect them, listen to them and understand, if you don't consult and evaluate the work as a coach, of course you don't even respect them, I think they are not free. As Albanians are generally not free, because Albania is not a free country, people are generally subjugated.
I personally don't care about politics, if it is the good politics of these 32 years, we would have a very good country. As much as Albania is, if these politicians had the will, we would have a very good Albania, much better football and security. Politics would not have treated people the way it has treated them. Being a bad policy, they have made the country unlivable that people want to leave.
Vllaznia is from Shkodra, for the fans, a club with tradition. Those who lead Vllaznia must respect its history, the serious figures of Shkodran football, make serious plans because without serious plans Vllazni cannot become a champion that has been missing for two decades.
Talents left from the championship? I don't know how many talents have left, in what market have they left? These are players that the clubs have benefited from their transfers, I think that in the championships they went to, in financial terms, I am sure that they achieve something much better. But professionally, I don't think they grow. I would have preferred, I would have thought that the talents would go to championships like Austria, Switzerland or Bundesliga 2. In the early 90s, the Albanian championship was important for the Greek market, who were interested in watching the Albanian championship. Today, no one goes to Greece, being on the border with Greece. This is a kind of problem that started to arise in the last two decades, because in the 90s, Albanian footballers were much poorer, with less conditions, they played in the Bundesliga, the French and Greek championships. Many have been in elite teams in Greece. The product is not important, but to see the transfer did not go to elite leagues, but something more organized than the Albanian championship, but not at exceptional levels.
Duel for the title? A derby is 50 to 50. Of course, Partizan has been more successful in the last derby. But Tirana with Sheh has had a kind of continuity, it is the reigning champion, it is possible to be both champion and winner of the Cup, it is among the most stable clubs of the last two seasons, it has justified the investments. Partizan had a kind of good run, made 2-3 mistakes that cost him the position, got away, but now the margin has narrowed again. Now it's a game of nerves, the fan factor is very important, great pressure on both teams.
I was a fan of Partizan when I was little, because one of my idols, Ferit Rragami, played with Partizan and I supported the teams where he played. But for the sake of both clubs, I hope the best wins. I'm not a fan of any of them, I prefer Vllaznina. I played half a season in Tirana and had a great time, I had very good communication with the fans. I hope it will be a fair play match and a beautiful show for the fans and that the best team will win the championship, even if not, Tirana will win the Cup.
Pressure on judges? It is not the pressure that is happening now, because if you see the news, there are always problems with the judges, they are not free either, under tremendous pressure. Often prejudiced, they often erred, they erred on purpose, they dictated to him. This is unfortunate because this is not how successful and elite football is built. I feel that they are powerless, they have the fate of the matches in their hands, but unfortunately they are also manipulated and accept to dictate something to them.
George's suspension? Everything that happens I think that the system effect is always inside. Somewhere the interests have been broken. Enea Jorgji is international, important, has a kind of personality. Here they let him know that 'you are nobody if you don't listen to what we tell you to do'. I see it as a warning to subjugate him, to defeat him and he becomes a player of desires and individuals who care to play a game that is not football.
The national team? With Silvinho there was a good energy, I liked the way he presented himself. I liked the work he did. But the coach is measured by results, the first one was negative, not positive. Poland was the weakest we could face, because it was not aggressive. I think the national team has not yet built the trend of Albania's game. Whenever it is built, enough time must be given to the coach, even he with his ideas, the energy he will bring to the team, with the way he builds the group. Reja didn't have a group, a kind of chemistry that a national team like Albania should have.
In order to know how far it can take him, of course one must understand how Silvinho will adapt, will he understand that many people he will get to know over time fail to adapt to his ideas? He may not have understood many things, but time will give him the energy to understand that you are the people. He has an exceptional CV, vision and career, experiences have made him and given him a lot of knowledge about football. The question is, has he seen his bosses how informed they are about football, the ideas they have and do they match? He needs time, he has promised results and of course he is under pressure, because he has undertaken to do great things. I don't think he can do great things, we need to grow and make progress, but we need exceptional discipline and general professional relationship to grow as a team. In my opinion we are not a solid team, creates chances and dominates the opponent. We are not efficient in front of goal, we have many shortcomings, if you don't score you can't win games. Even Broja, who is the main one who leads us to the goal, has been missing from the team for months. Uzuni is very important, Cikalleshi has experience that can help. In defense, we have a gap with Kumbulla, who will leave a hole for who can replace him. It is a slightly crippled, wounded national team. Silvinho is the factor and he must find the right solutions to give us a national team that gives us hope. When we see a game that pleases us, we can hope to go as high as possible. I am a product of Albania and honestly I feel myself as such. I think that every person who is born in a place, I think that where he was born, there he has the best feeling, that the energy he gets from the land where he was born is the most necessary for man. I feel better in Shkodër than in Paris and London, because it is the energy that I received first, such energy made me happier than anywhere else. In Albania, I am at the disposal of Albania 24 hours a day, but at the disposal of those who have anti-Albanian goals, no, I am never available", said Vata, among other things.
