Bennacer is operated, the return to the field is expected next year

AC Milan's Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer underwent surgery on his right knee on Tuesday morning in Lyon, France, prematurely ending 2023.

The news about the operation was given by the Milan club itself through an official communique, where it is explained that Bennacer will now rest, to restart the rehabilitation phase later.

The red and black club says in a statement that it will take about 6 months for recovery, however, a previous precedent with former midfielder Bonaventura lasted a full 8 months.

And if the same time will be needed for Bennacer, then the Algerian midfielder will return to the field only at the beginning of 2024 to give his contribution again with the red and black jersey.

Bennacer is one of Milan's most important footballers and the undisputed starter, as he was injured just last Wednesday in the derby against Inter in the Champions League.
