Carlos Teves reveals the strange reason why he never learned English

Carlos Tevez was one of those players who left his mark wherever he went. Coming out of the Boca Juniors academy, at a very early age he prepared his bags to make the big move to the Premier League.

During almost a decade in England with West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City, "Apache" was criticized for his lack of interest in learning the English language.

In an interview for "DSportsRadio", the legendary Argentine forward commented on the reason for such a strange decision.

"I didn't want to learn English, I wanted them (the team) to learn Spanish. I had an uncle who played for River Plate. He played in the reserve team and when he was going to make his debut with the first team, he was called to fight in the Malvinas War", confessed the former Argentinian striker. "He suffered a lot after he came back and became an alcoholic. This touched me a lot because we were very close," said "Apache" sincerely.

Carlos Tevez, when he was 18, went to England to West Ham to later join Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United.

"The seven years I was in England was a time to say: 'Okay, I'm here for work, but I'm not going to adapt to English culture. Everything has a reason. I have never told this story until today."
