Williams transfer "stuck", Barcelona does not welcome the request

Nico Williams' transfer to Barcelona has faced an unexpected halt, despite a preliminary agreement between the parties for a 6-year contract.

The player's agent has requested written guarantees for the player's regular registration with the club's official bodies. This request has not been well received by the Catalan club's management.

Williams and his representative do not want a repeat of the situations that occurred with players like Dani Olmo or Pau Víctor in December 2024.

Despite Barça having given verbal guarantees, formalisation with full documentation is required. Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao is putting pressure on not to allow the player to leave. The situation remains in limbo, with Williams' future to be decided in the coming days.
