Silvio Berlusconi passed away at the age of 86 on the morning of June 12, ending a part of Italian history. He had been admitted to the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan since Friday and was suffering from leukemia.

Recently, the condition of the former Italian prime minister had worsened and the 86-year-old passed away this morning. "Silvio Berlusconi has passed away at the age of 86", it was said in the announcement given by the hospital.

Around 10:00, his brother Paolo, his children Marina, Barbara and Eleonora arrive at the hospital. Milan's historic president, who brought the club to the top after saving it from bankruptcy, became Monza's number one two years ago, returning to Serie A.

After founding Forza Italia, he was declared prime minister for the first time, winning the elections in 1994. A powerful entrepreneur, he started first with Edilnord and then with Mediaset, a company that gave jobs to millions of Italians.

Berlusconi's rise as a businessman coincided with the creation of the Edilnord company in 1968, which was immediately strengthened by the construction of Milano 2.

Six years later, his adventure with television began, with the first Italian private network, TeleMilano. In 1976 it got its current name, Canale 5.

The first access to the world of sports coincides with the acquisition of the rights to broadcast the Mundialito, which saw the football matches of teams such as Milan, Inter, Santos, Feyenoord and Penarol on the pitch at San Siro.

In 1982 the group expanded with the acquisition of Italia 1 by Edilio Rusconi and Rete 4 in 1984 by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore (then controlled by Mario Formenton).

On February 20, 1986, Berlusconi rescued Milan from bankruptcy, pulling it back from the abyss into which it had fallen with Giussy Farina.

With him in charge, Milan won 8 Scudettos, one Italian Cup, 7 Italian Super Cups, 5 Champions Leagues, 2 Intercontinental Cups, 5 UEFA Super Cups and one Club World Cup, a total of 29 official trophies in 31 years.

In 1994 he founded Forza Italia and won the political elections in March of that year, becoming Prime Minister. It is the first of three governments that he heads: It would be followed by taking power in the years 2001-2006 and 2008-2011.

In 2003 he was also president of the European Council.
