The world youth champion in Kickboxing, 17-year-old Albanian Gerald Gega, has reacted to the news of the Greek media, which changed the statement on his nationality.

Gega was announced this week in Italy as the World Youth Kickboxing Champion.

The young man originally from Fieri, who was born, lived and trained in the Greek state, was received with ovations in the Greek media, so much so that some of them changed their statements about his nationality, according to Gega.

He tells Euronews Albania:

"I said that I grew up in Greece but I did not say that I am Greek. I said that I am Albanian, I have Albanian blood and I am proud to be Albanian. Great Albania. Long live Albania," said the champion.

According to him, this news may have circulated to please himself, since where he lives, in Crete, he is the only one who received those medals.

Gega says that since he was little he dreamed of raising the Albanian flag, while he claims that the Greeks have never been racist towards him.
