In comparison, Reja left Albania worse than Panuç

"When I arrived, I found a team that had neither head nor tail. We have done an extraordinary job". These are the words with which Edi Reja said goodbye to the Albanian public today, a few minutes before the new coach of the Reds and Blacks, Silvinjo, spoke to the media.

This is an open criticism of the 77-year-old coach for his predecessor, Kristian Panuçi, whose place he took in the management of the Reds and Blacks. But as unbelievable as it may seem, Reja leaves Albania in a worse situation than when he inherited it from Panuçi.

The statistics speak clearly. In April 2019, when he was appointed to the bench of the Reds and Blacks, Albania was in 62nd place in the FIFA ranking, 34th among the UEFA national teams.

While today, Albania, which Reja bequeaths to Silvinho, is 66th in the FIFA ranking, but in 34th place among European representatives. The statistics are stubborn and the extraordinary progress of these years, according to the staff who worked with the National Team, shows at best only a place number compared to the failed experiment with Panuc.
