France loses one of its leaders in the last decade. Goalkeeper Hugo Loris, the captain of the "turkeys" in these years under the direction of Didier Deschamps and one of the main names in the locker room of this representative, has decided to end his international career.

It was the goalkeeper himself who announced his decision with an interview given to "L'Equipe" where he explained why he took this step.

"There comes a moment when you have to know how to pass the baton. I do not want to hold anything hostage, I have said and I have repeated that France does not belong to anyone and we all have the means to verify that this is so.

I am the first to think that the team is ready to restart from a new name at the back and there is another goalkeeper ready", he said, most likely referring to Mike Menja whom everyone sees as the future starter of France.

Loris started his career in the ranks of the French representative in 2008 and since then he has collected 145 matches with the blue shirt. With France, he won the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 League of Nations, while he was a finalist in Euro 2016 and the 2022 World Cup.
