Infantino risks FIFA presidency, UEFA move revealed

UEFA's member associations are considering backing a candidate to challenge Gianni Infantino in the upcoming FIFA presidential election.

According to reports from "talkSPORT", Infantino is aiming for a new term and was not expected to have any opponents until before the World Cup.

However, the situation seems to have changed and various names are being discussed for an alternative candidacy. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin is considered one of the most suitable figures, but he has no intention of leaving his current post.

Several federations, including those of Belgium and Poland, have expressed interest in supporting Nasser Al Khelaifi. The PSG president, like Ceferin, does not intend to run for the FIFA presidency.

Dariusz Mioduski, Victor Montagliani and Patrice Motsepe are also mentioned in the discussions. Despite these moves, Infantino is still considered the favorite to retain his current position.
