For doctor Kita Sallabanda, monkeypox is not a concern, as we are dealing with a new version of the virus that is less aggressive and infectious.

In an interview for "Euronews Albania", Sallabanda said that the WHO had thought that this virus would not return again, but the disease is still controllable.

"It is not worrying because it is a new generation of smallpox, which is less aggressive, less infectious, with signs that can be controlled more easily. The World Health Organization is now considering monkeypox as a sexually transmitted disease. These are mainly cases of homosexual transmission between men.

The WHO thought that smallpox was a disease that no longer existed in the world. We have had no outbreaks in Europe and no vaccinations have been carried out. We consider it as a controllable disease", emphasized Sallabanda.

The outbreak of monkeypox has been declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organization.

The classification is the highest alert the WHO can issue and follows an increase in cases worldwide./euronews
