Friendship by virtue

Aristotle, one of the greatest philosophers who ever lived, wrote that friendship is at the core of being human.

He has named its three forms, from the simplest which is the one out of necessity. The second one he names from pleasure and the third and the most important and the most difficult as it is directly related to education, he calls friendship from virtue. I would very much like our national strategy, even though it is called an education strategy, to have at its foundation, the development of friendship from virtue.

What does it mean to develop friendship from virtue, to not see the other as a threat but as an opportunity to know and discover the world and yourself not alone.

Man comes from the other, so we have life from the other. We learn to articulate the word and understand it from the other. Even our name is chosen and decided by the other and when we are with the other we are not alone.

It is true that the other can be a threat, but not everyone can be a threat.

It is true that by comparing or contrasting us with the other and showing us that we are failures or that we do not do, this other becomes unwanted and we often harbor a kind of anger both for ourselves and for this other who sits there as a mirror of our failure .

Yes, this other one is actually not at fault, but these are the people who surround us and claim to love us and unwittingly kill the possibility of friendship out of virtue. Please adults, parents and teachers, try to develop friendship from virtue in children.
