The agreement with Italy on pensions comes into force/ 500 thousand Albanians

The pension agreement between Albania and Italy started to be implemented from yesterday, July 6. It benefits Albanian citizens living in Italy, as well as Italian citizens living in our country.

Thus, all Albanians living in Italy will benefit from the Compulsory General Insurance for disability, old-age and family pensions of employed employees, special treatment for self-employed workers such as artisans, traders, farmers and insurance for sickness benefits.

After July 6, Albanians on the verge of retirement must apply to the Social Insurance Institute in the Italian and Albanian states, making it possible to receive two pensions, according to the years of work that have contributed. There are about 500 thousand Albanians who benefit from the agreement with Italy, as well as 4 thousand Italian citizens who will benefit from a pension in Albania.

Likewise, Albanians who retired before 2024 can apply to benefit from this agreement. The Albanian state has negotiated and concluded the agreement with 17 countries. Meanwhile, negotiations have recently focused on the Greek government.
