Several cases of "Nile fever" have been registered in the municipality of Fier since the end of July.

According to the epidemiologist, Anila Moci, they were presented at the Fier Regional Hospital and after they tested positive, they were sent for specialized treatment at QSUT, where they are in good health.

According to doctor Moci, two other cases are awaiting an answer as to whether they were infected or not, stressing that there are no serious life-threatening cases.

Faced with this situation, Moci added that the "hot spot" foci and the coastline have been disinfested in cooperation with the local government, stressing that the situation is under control.

Moci has also asserted that "Nile fever" is a disease that is transmitted to humans by mosquito bites and affects the nervous system, so he has appealed to take the appropriate measures even in domestic environments, stressing that there is no room for panic as the cases are sporadic and the virus currently in the municipality of Fier has not turned into an epidemic.

For two weeks, the PIH has been continuing with field tests, asking the local government to disinfect the areas where mosquitoes breed. /CNA
