Road accidents decreased in April but driver behavior remains a problem

Official data shows that road accidents decreased in April 2025 compared to the same month a year earlier.

According to the Institute of Statistics, which published preliminary data, in the fourth month of the year there were 112 road accidents, of which 162 people were injured (killed and injured).

"During the period January-April 2025, the number of road accidents decreased by 17.4%, compared to the same period a year earlier," INSTAT assessed.

From the analysis of data on the causes of accidents, it seems that the usual ones, related to the behavior of drivers behind the wheel, dominate.

"Road accidents, in 93.8% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents, in this period, was committed by the 45-59 age group, accounting for 23.2% of the total number of accidents," the publication states.

According to INSTAT in April 2025, the highest number of road accidents occurred on Monday with 18.8%, while the lowest number of accidents occurred on Wednesday and Saturday, with 11.6% each.

The highest number of road accidents occurred during the time period 08:00 – 12:00, accounting for 22.3% of the total number of road accidents./ Monitor Magazine
