It is enough to keep your head slightly elevated, so do not use a flat pillow, and the symptoms of reflux and heartburn will be significantly reduced.

Ideally, the head should remain 15-20 cm elevated in order to prevent the burning wave of acidity. This does not mean that you sleep on two pillows pressed on top of each other. Such a thing would arch the waist and compress the stomach, something that makes it difficult to sleep. 

Keeping the head slightly elevated in bed has additional benefits, especially for people with heart or lung problems.

People who have heart problems or have chronic lung diseases breathe easier at night if they sleep with their head slightly elevated.

For people without such diseases and especially without reflux or heartburn, this technique does not provide any significant improvement in breathing.

Other tips 

Experts say that feeding time is also a factor in the occurrence of reflux. Doctors say that people should not lie down immediately after eating. They should wait about 2-3 hours before lying down.

In bed, people suffering from reflux or heartburn should sleep on their left side because it puts more pressure on the stomach and prevents the movement of acidity.

Do not wear tight clothes in the area around the waist and above all avoid the consumption of alcohol, coffee, tomatoes, citrus fruits, carbonated drinks, garlic, onions, fried foods and spicy foods./ AgroWeb.org
