Blendi Gonxhja, whom Prime Minister Edi Rama rewarded with the post of Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, has recently revealed why he left the Democratic Party in 1991.

He emphasized that even today he is of the same opinion, since the people who led that party did not think about the country's interests, but about their own interests.


"Because it was not the environment for any moment from the moment we gathered and the first forums were created, it was not the environment. I believe that the events, the facts of Albania in 1992, '94, '96, '97, '98, all that happened afterwards, January 2021, have proved that the characters, I am not mentioning names, never thought that put the country before their interests. I think that those who listen to us when they look at the events today, in 2023, I think that in relation to that DP, with those characters who took it in their hands at the beginning of 1991, there was no future and I think they should give me the right that I broke away in January of '91 and then later I saw that all those you know, Gramoz, etc., who toiled, toiled longer than us, a few years, a few months, a term, or two mandates later, everyone has been expelled from the Democratic Party in violent ways, in undemocratic ways", said Gonxhe./CNA
