Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has reacted to the tensions in the north of Kosovo.

Berisha supports the Kosovo authorities and declares that the situation with the Serbs in the north has been manipulated by Belgrade.

The head of the Democratic Party calls on the Kosovo authorities to take appropriate steps to de-escalate the situation and restore dialogue.

"Strong tensions in the North of Kosovo.

Dear friends, the beginning of the duties of the new mayors in the municipalities of the North of Kosovo brought the reaction from the Serb leader Vucic, the manipulation of the Serbian groups in these municipalities and the strong increase in local tensions.

Condemning Belgrade's continuous manipulation of the Serbs in the north of Kosovo and supporting the right of the Kosovo authorities to establish law throughout the territory of their country, I call on these authorities to avoid increasing tensions and in cooperation and coordination with KFOR and the main partners NATO, the European Union and the USA, to take the appropriate steps to de-escalate the situation, restore dialogue and implement the Ohrid Agreement, as the best interest of the Republic of Kosovo and its citizens, peace and stability in the region", writes Berisha on social networks./ CNA.al
