The head of the Department of Education in the Democratic Party, Lili Sula, declared today from the blue headquarters that 295 9-year-old schools have been closed within 8 years.
"Renaissance has funded education during this decade less than the funding provided by the Democratic Party government in the years 2005-2013. Today, education is funded almost 40% lower than developed countries and 20% less than the funding provided by developed countries. the region", she said.
Full statement:
Dear citizens, teachers and students! This school year begins with the deepening of the mass abandonment of our education. During the years 2013-2022, 295 9-year schools were closed in the country, or 22% of compulsory education schools, according to official data, which leaves room for question marks.
These are figures from INSTAT, so they are official. If we add to this figure the closure of preschool and higher secondary education institutions, the picture of the undoing and destruction of education becomes more complete.
9-year education is compulsory and guaranteed to students in the Constitution, but the emigration of Albanians at higher levels than the countries of the region, the low salaries of teachers, the lack of digital infrastructure, the lack of financial support of the education system, its politicization, the lack of guarantees of quality, the failed curriculum reform, the lack of motivation for teachers, the decline of their professional level and, above all, the depopulation project of the country, are strong reasons to come to this day.
Our country recorded the biggest decline in the international PISA 2022 test results, our students were ranked last in the world for creative thinking - results that complement even more the poor picture of the country's education.
The renaissance today finances education less than it did before the 1990s: the dictatorial state financed education at 4-5% of GDP, a level that was comparable at the time to other OECD countries.
Rilindja has funded education during this decade less than the funding provided by the Democratic Party government in the years 2005-2013. Today, education is financed almost 40% lower than developed countries and 20% less than the funding provided by countries in the region.
Our education has reached the end point, and the teachers say that the reforms during these years have turned them into bureaucrats, increasing the load that is not related to the transmitter of knowledge.
The Democratic Party promises to raise education from the abyss where the Renaissance has plunged it, and the figure of the teacher will enjoy the status he deserves, to educate children with equal and quality educational services for all.
It is a legal obligation, it is a professional and humane mission and the Democratic Party has declared the education of students today as a national priority in order to have a developed society tomorrow./ CNA
