The US imposes new sanctions on Russia

The United States has imposed new sanctions on several Russian banks, companies and individuals for helping Moscow evade sanctions a year after its invasion of Ukraine.

“Veprimet e sotme, së bashku me masat shtesë të marra nga Departamenti i Shtetit, Departamenti i Tregtisë dhe Zyra për Tregti e SHBA-së, në koordinim me aleatët dhe partnerët e G7-s, edhe më tej izolojnë Rusinë nga ekonomia ndërkombëtare. Po ashtu, pengojnë aftësinë e Rusisë për të pasur qasje në kapital, materiale dhe teknologji për të mbështetur dhe vazhduar luftën kundër Ukrainës që ka vrarë mijëra dhe ka detyruar të zhvendosen miliona persona të tjerë”, tha Departamenti amerikan i Thesarit më 24 shkurt.

Ndërkaq, sipas Shtëpisë së Bardhë, sanksionet e reja shënjestrojnë mbi “200 individë dhe entitete, përfshirë edhe aktorë rusë dhe të shteteve të tjera në mbarë Evropën, Azinë dhe Lindjen e Mesme që po mbështesin përpjekjet e luftës së Rusisë”.

Subject to the new sanctions will be "several Russian financial institutions, along with Russian officials illegally operating in Ukraine," the White House said.

The White House said the new round of sanctions hit Russia's defense and high-tech sectors, but also efforts to circumvent existing sanctions.

The new US sanctions come on the first anniversary of the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a war that has so far killed tens of thousands of people and caused the destruction of Ukrainian cities./REL
