The return of toxic waste to the Port of Durrës/ Muçollari: The

The member of the Presidency of the DP, Grigels Muçollari, has spoken about the return of hazardous toxic waste to the Port of Durrës.

In the statement to the media, Muçollari emphasized that this scandal must be clarified.

He calls on the organizations, the Basel Network and the citizens to be present when the ship with the toxic waste arrives and for the procedure to be carried out with 3 sealed, unopened containers, and in 3 different laboratories.

"According to the Basel Network, this Sunday, October 27, the 102 containers with suspicious waste, loaded there on July 4, will be returned to the Port of Durrës.

The Basel Network, the most specialized organization for hazardous and toxic waste, gave the first warning that these shipments were suspicious, and that their traffic was illegal.

After that, the destination country, Thailand, refused to hold the cargo from Albania and the ships were turned back.

In these 3 months, the government, the responsible ministers and the Prime Minister have denied any responsibility, they have blamed the private operator that they themselves licensed, they have blamed the Opposition, and they have said that the waste is not dangerous.

The truth is coming with the ships. But, here starts another and even bigger problem.

Everyone suspects that the government will not be transparent, will not do the testing according to the standards, and will do everything to manipulate the case, to hide the reality.

Therefore, the Basel Network insists again that this process should not be left in the hands of the government, but should be done in the presence of them, experts, civil society and in the eyes of the public.

The Democratic Party has been asking for this since the first day.

To have transparency, accountability and responsibility. We know very well that Edi Rama has played and will play every stone in his hand to avoid being involved in the illegal traffic of dangerous or toxic substances.

We really wish that wasn't true. We would like those ships to be free of waste that endangers our lives, health and environment.

But the data so far and the manner in which the responsible ministers and the Prime Minister have behaved, make you think that this crime has occurred.

The clarification of this event is of fundamental importance.

The Democratic Party calls on organizations, the Basel Network and citizens to be present. The procedure is carried out with 3 sealed, unopened containers, and in 3 different laboratories. Let's learn the truth about hazardous waste. Let's not allow Edi Ramen to hide this affair, and not play with people's lives and health just to protect his chair and power.

Let's all be there and not allow the government to traffic the truth about the traffic of hazardous waste," Muçollari emphasized./ CNA
