Dorian Teliti: Ridicule, Rama was looking for false reasons not to increase
Advisor for economic issues in DP, Dorian Teliti

The statement of the advisor for economic issues in the Democratic Party, Dorian Teliti, spoke about the pension scheme that was presented yesterday by Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Ministers of Economy and Finance.

According to Teliti, Rama and his ministers made fun of the pensioners, as according to him he spoke about the false reasons for not increasing the pensions enough, and about the deficit of the pension scheme.

"We saw how the Prime Minister, his ministers and official or non-official spokespersons tried to justify themselves to the Albanians, and especially to the pensioners who were forgotten by them.

We saw today how the head of the government and his staff talked to us about the false reasons for not increasing enough pensions, and about the deficit of the pension scheme. 11 years ago, it was the same Prime Minister who sold us the new pension reform as a miracle, which according to him would solve the pensioners' problems once and for all. Today, its failure is widely accepted by every market actor, and by the pensioners themselves, a failure which we warned about."

Teliti appealed to Prime Minister Edi Rama that he should appear before the pensioners and ask for forgiveness, since in 11 years of his government, pensions have increased to less than 30%.

Comparing our country with Kosovo, Teliti said that, unlike us, they increased pensions 5 times more, while Rama, according to him, mocked them by giving them 25 lekshin per day.

"Today you had to appear in front of the pensioners and ask for forgiveness, since in these 11 years of your government, although prices have increased by 2-3 times, pensions have increased by less than 30%. It is you who, a few weeks ago, made fun of 790 thousand pensioners by giving them 25 lekshin per day, while neighboring Kosovo, with a serious government, increased pensions 5 times more. It was you who decided to increase the costs of pensioners' medicines, introducing low-quality medicines into the domestic market, which translate into additional burdens for pensioners. It was and is you who change the list of reimbursable medicines every year, causing about 60% of the health bill to be paid out of the pensioners' pockets. It was you who raised electricity costs for pensioners, pointing the finger at them for blankets to keep warm on cold winter days. It was you that increases, like the costs of water supply throughout Albania and the costs of urban transport.

It was you Mr. Prime Minister who increased taxes, duties and fees at the expense of Albanians and pensioners, while the money was sent to the accounts of tenders without competition, government luxuries, unsolicited clientelistic and corrupt concessions and "golden roads". It is you who turn a blind eye to Eurostat figures according to which 46% of Albanians, mostly pensioners, are immersed in poverty."

On the other hand, Dorian Teliti promised that a real increase in pensions with the objective of doubling them within the first governing mandate, is a major commitment of the Democratic Party.

He also called on Rama to give up propaganda and lies.

"Give up propaganda and lies! Establishing a living minimum of 220 euros is today a national necessity in our common fight against poverty. The real and serious increase in pensions, with the objective of doubling them within the first governing mandate, is a major commitment of the Democratic Party. Albania has the resources and the state budget has all the financial possibilities to win the battle with a mouthful, it is enough to remove the abusers of your taxes from government seats."/ CNA
