Prime Minister Edi Rama participated this Tuesday in the opening ceremony of the Conference of the Parliamentary Network "Women free from violence".

Rama stated that Albania has made great strides in empowering women, while there was a request for women in politics to do more for women in general.

"We have made great strides in empowering women, starting from politics, and today we rank among the leading countries in terms of women's participation in government. We may not rank at the top, but we rank very well in terms of women's participation in parliament. We are also ranked at high levels for the participation of women in administration and in leadership positions, and this is a very good thing.

I listened to the Secretary General, who said that we are among the first to have approved the legislation, and from this I would like to go back to what I believe should be improved, because first, it is not enough to approve a law, but it is the implementation of this legislation, its implementation. Secondly, I would like to say that yes, we have empowered women a lot in the political part, but women in politics need to do a lot for women in general and this opportunity, to be promoted, to be empowered, must to be used not only to do the work defined in the positions of minister or member of parliament", said the head of the government.

Rama said in his speech that he hopes that Albania will host the Summit of the Political Committee next year and that within 2030 we will also have a NATO Summit./ CNA
