Rama issues ultimatum on dismissals/ Three mayors oppose it

Three mayors have declared themselves against the order of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, in today's meeting with the country's mayors, demanded that the heads of administrative units be dismissed by Monday.

The Mayor of Himara, Vangjel Tavo, the Mayor of Kavaja, Fisnik Qosja, and the Mayor of Fushë-Arrëz, Hill Curri, in their statements to the media, have stated that they do not intend to take this step.

"Depending on performance, I am a new chairman. It is understood that they are still on probation, plus my vice-chairmen are new," said Tavo.

"Absolutely not. Performance is another thing. No, I will not fire them because of the prime minister, but because of the tourist season or something else. I was not here politically, I was as mayor. He has it with his own people, he does not have it with mine," said Qosja.

"I am not dismissing the deputy mayors because they are working well. This suggestion was only for the SP municipalities, it did not apply to us conservatives," Curri said. /CNA
