"Protests only solve one issue"/ Kikia: Electoral reform and free vote

Journalist Mentor Kikia commented today on developments from the several-day citizen protest against the government.

In a television appearance, Kikia stated that this protest should only resolve one issue, that of changing the government.

According to the journalist, Albania should draft an electoral law that frees the vote from the influence of the party in power.

Kikia added that a deep electoral reform and free voting are the elements that should determine who will be the country's prime minister.

"This protest should only resolve one issue, change the government and the transitional government should guarantee an early electoral process with equal rules of the game. Draft an electoral law that frees the vote from the influence of the party in power, eliminate the introduction of the entire arsenal of public administration in the electoral process, guarantee financial transparency of parties, making it impossible to introduce criminal money to supply electoral machinery. Also draft a deep electoral reform and then the free vote determines who will be prime minister. If we do not like this government, we will remove it with early elections," Kikia declared./CNA
