The registration of immigrants for the 2025 elections begins/ The process lasts

This Saturday, January 11, the registration process for Albanians living abroad who want to vote on May 11 begins, while the process lasts until March 4. Registration on the list is done through the Electronic Platform for the Registration of Voters from Abroad (PER), which is administered by the Central Election Commission.

Registration requires an electronic device. First, the immigrant must create an account in the system, using a phone number, or an 'email', as well as personal data, such as birthday, place of birth, personal number.

The account is created only by showing the voter's face in front of the camera, to avoid family voting or through other people. After creating the account, the voter must send a request to this system, where he needs an Albanian identification document. At the time of registration, the passport or card is accepted even if it has expired. Another important document is a certificate that the person lives where he is registered.

CEC accepts various documents, from ownership documents, to leases or water, gas, energy bills, or any other subscription, including bank documents. The address is important for the Central Election Commission to send the ballot and other guidance materials to where the immigrant lives.

Within 5 days, the CEC will inform the immigrant whether his request was accepted or rejected. In case of rejection, the voter will be informed of what he did wrong and will be given the opportunity to apply again.

The ballot is sent by the Central Election Commission through the postal service.

After receiving the ballot, the immigrant fills it in according to the instructions of the Central Election Commission, choosing the electoral subject and/or the candidate he wanted. The ballot paper is sent back to the Central Election Commission, calculating the time for it to arrive at this institution, no later than 19:00 on May 11, 2025.

The costs of the postal service for sending the ballot from the Central Election Commission to the emigrant, as well as its return from the emigrant to the Central Election Commission, will be paid by the Albanian state.
