Protest starts/ Citizens of Tirana demand Veliaj's resignation
Protest in front of the town hall

Protests start in front of Tirana City Hall. Hundreds of citizens demand the resignation of the head of the municipality, Erion Veliaj, for the scandal with the "5D" file. 

So far the protest is peaceful. Meanwhile, the police cordon has surrounded the City Hall building. 

This is the third protest taking place in front of this institution. 

Regarding the scandal with the "5D" company, investigations by SPAK continue and it is expected that there will be other persons under investigation. The head of the Municipality of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has also been summoned to the Special Prosecutor's Office for this scandal. 

There was no lack of criticism from Rama regarding the scandals that happened in the country's largest municipality. The latter has not at all spared the thieving directors of Erion Veliaj and the mayor himself, calling them traitors, cowards and corrupt. Rama came to the defense of SPAK and motivated him to continue with the investigations. 

In the last protest held in front of Tirana City Hall, the citizens were angry with Veliaj. There were no shortage of clashes between them and the police, after they tried to enter the building. They demand the immediate resignation of Mayor Veliaj. 

On the other hand, Veliaj appeared "blackened" and worried in media appearances, even though he tried to "cover" the scandal with propaganda./CNA
