Since yesterday, the US senator, Steve Daines, has been in Albania for an official visit, and has held a series of meetings.

Specifically, Daines met with President Bajram Begaj, Prime Minister Edi Rama, Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka, MPs Agron Shehaj and Jorida Tabaku and the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Arben Kingji.

The US Embassy in Tirana disclosed details of the visit and meetings of the US senator.

"On his first visit to Albania, US Senator Steve Daines met with President Begaj, Prime Minister Rama, Foreign Minister Xhaçka and other political leaders. He praised Albania's leadership in supporting Ukraine and welcoming Afghans, and welcomed growing US-Albania economic ties and cooperation in the energy sector. The senator reaffirmed our defense cooperation as a NATO ally and US support for Albania's cyber security. With Chief of Staff Brigadier General Kingji, Senator Daines visited the Kuçova Air Base, where Albania and NATO are upgrading facilities for NATO operations. Senator Daines also took the opportunity to visit the historic city of Berat, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site," the statement said./ CNA.al
