The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, before taking the first mandate in 2015, promised that he would build the buildings as far from the center of the capital as possible.

He also said he wanted to be remembered as a man who created parks more than palaces and towers.

Regarding this promise, Veliaj was asked this evening on Erla Mëhilli's show.

But the mayor of Tirana claims that new and bigger investments are not in the center of the city.

Veliaj said that the five-star hotels in the center of Tirana, which make the city look like abroad, are welcome.

"We cannot be a country that wants to host the European Youth Capital, the European City of Sports, the European Union Summit with the Western Balkans and tell people to go and sleep in Vora or Durrës like it happened when we held summits before and we didn't have these opportunities", emphasized the mayor./ CNA.al
