The DP deputy, Ina Zhupa, has called the election of Alfred Peza as head of the Albanian Radio Television a violation of the law and a political capture.

Through a post on the social network "Facebook", Zhupa states that Peza's arrival at the head of RTSH was predetermined by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Among other things, the deputy points out the violation of the law, where it is emphasized that the General Director is not allowed to be a member of political parties and associations, a candidate for deputy or to have been elected as such in the past 2 legislatures.

"Violation of the law and political capture, the appointment of Alfred Peza, former deputy and member of the SP, as head of RTSH.
As I warned in the hearing with the Steering Council of RTSH, the election of Peza in an illegal manner at the head of the institution was predetermined by the Prime Minister.
In Law No. 97/2013 "FOR THE AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA IN THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA, in article 104 which talks about the incompatibilities and conflict of interests of the General Director of RTSH, point 1 states that: The General
Director of RTSH is not allowed:
a) to be a member of political parties and associations, a candidate for deputy or to have been elected as such in the last 2 legislatures, to have competed for the chairman of local units in the last elections organized for them or to have exercised the duties of chairman of the municipality, the member of the Council of Ministers or the prefect during the last 3 years, as well as those who are members of the Complaints Council, AKEP or the employee of the latter ", he said.

According to Zhupa, the law was violated because Alfred Peza was elected deputy of the Socialist Party in the period 2013-2017, which actually corresponds to the fact that he was a deputy in one of the last two legislatures.

Alfred Peza is also a member of the Socialist Party, he was elected its digital secretary and in its leadership forums, which is another fact that falls into incompatibility with the law. The capture of any public institution created by
law as an independent, it is the model of a party state that does not function as a democracy. I strongly condemn the violation of the law and as a member of the media commission I will use every mechanism against it," writes Zhupa .

Journalist Alfred Peza was elected General Director of Albanian Radio and Television today with 9 votes. There were also 3 other candidates in the race: Enrik Mehmeti, Helidon Haliti and Laureta Roshi. Former deputy and former secretary of Rilindja, Peza is known as a media mercenary of drug traffickers and abusers of the law.
