The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, gave an ultimatum to the political parties this Tuesday, during his report to the Commission for Legal Affairs.

Celibashi said that the Electoral Reform Commission should continue its work, or else another temporary commission should be established.

He stressed that the parties must work to make a real Electoral Reform.

"After 2025 there will be elections, why not discuss all issues and problems. Even if they have no effect in 2025. Let them produce the effects after the 2025 elections, and the next elections. I understand that it causes hilarity, but it is not without sense and very reasonable. It would be advisable for this structure, or another 'Ad-Hoc' structure, to be created to work for a real Electoral Reform.

The referendum must have appropriate legal regulation, which does not exist today. As well as other issues related to the administration of elections for the Assembly or local government. If we don't make the whole discussion about what we need to change in relation to how elections are held in Albania related to the next elections, I think we can have a good product as far as the regulatory aspect of these elections is concerned", underlined the head of the CEC of./ CNA
