Today, Vangjel Tavo was sworn in as the mayor of Himara, after the victory in the August 4 elections over the DP candidate, Petro Gjikuria.

In his speech, Tavo emphasized that he will not only be the first citizen of the city, but a servant of Himara.

"Privileged to stand in front of you as the mayor of the Municipality of Himara, honored to serve you residents in every unit and village. I swear that I will not be the first citizen, but the first servant of Himara. I will work for the benefit of the residents to improve their lives. It will be a community center that takes care of the needs of the residents. The most wonderful destination, above all a livable area for residents, not only for Himara, but for all family members to live better. This municipality will be yours. My office will be open to ordinary residents. The doors will also be open for ideas to anyone who wants to contribute to the good of Himara.

Himariotes living abroad, foreign embassies, are welcome to come and lend their influence, doors open to anyone who serves Himara's interest. Closed to illegality or corruption, Himariots deserve a municipality that offers you solutions and not that causes you problems or makes your life difficult. They deserve an institution to find support. I invite the council without political distinction to work together to serve Himara. Himara's good transcends all political beliefs.
