In a meeting with the residents of the third age in Librazhd, the Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Taulant Balla and the Minister of State for Local Government, Arbjan Mazniku together with the Minister of State for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi emphasized the importance of taking care of the elderly and the challenges of the pension system in Albania.

They appreciated the commitment of the Librazhd Municipality to this social group, calling it a tradition that has always been part of the community.

In his speech, Minister Balla, sharing a personal experience, spoke about his parents as an example of the generation that has worked with dedication and faced the challenges of different economic systems.

"My mother worked for 42 years as a shift nurse, from one village to another. I would like her to have a bigger pension, but we have to accept that the years of contribution before '90 were zeroed out when the system changed,” explained Balla.

Minister Balla emphasized that after 2013, the government worked to stabilize the pension scheme and to guarantee that it remains functional.

"If in 2013 we had not taken over the direction of the government, in 2014 we would no longer have the opportunity to distribute pensions," he said.

In conclusion, Balla guaranteed that the improvement of living conditions for the elderly will remain a priority of the government and a continuous commitment for the community of Librazhdi.

While Minister Mazniku emphasized in his speech that the government will offer this year a bigger bonus than previous years.

"Until mid-December, we will have very good news on the issue of pensions. In particular, this year we will offer a bigger bonus than in previous years. On the other hand, for next year, we are seeing the possibility of an inherent increase in pensions, especially for those who receive the lowest pensions," said Mazniku./ CNA
