Accusations of raping an official in Ostren, Bulqiza/Mziu: The incident is

The political leader of the Democratic Party for the Dibra region, Xhelal Mziu, has reacted today after allegations that he and his nephew raped a local official in Ostren, Bulqiza. It is suspected that the incident occurred after the end of an electoral meeting.

In a reaction posted on social media, Mziu requested that investigative institutions seize the footage from the area's cameras, in order to have more access during the investigation into the incident.

Mziu declares that this event is staged and organized to blackmail citizens.

Xhelal Mziu's full reaction: 

"Based on the political statements of the Dibra district police regarding the incident that occurred yesterday in Ostren, Bulqiza, we clarify that the situation was totally different from what the police stated.

First of all, I want to tell you that in every meeting I have held in the Dibra region, the local structures of the Socialist Party with the Heads of administrative units, economic aid workers, representatives of education, health, police, etc. structures, have constantly intimidated and threatened citizens not to come to our meetings, or to leave when they are spotted at these meetings.

There are dozens of citizens of this area who have expressed these concerns to me, not only as an opposition candidate, but also as a member of parliament.
These arrogant and criminal behaviors of officials and representatives of the Socialist Party have increased even more in recent days, in the meetings held yesterday in Trebishte at 09.00 and even worse in Ostren at 11.30.

At the Ostren meeting, in a demonstrative manner, the economic assistance worker at the Bulqizë Municipality was intimidating the participants, with some leaving after these threats and others expressing concern about the removal of economic assistance.

Following the concerns raised by the residents of this area themselves, I communicated with the person in question who was standing in front of the meeting place, and I asked him not to intimidate the citizens, and even more so not to use his job position to blackmail citizens by removing economic assistance in case of supporting and voting for the Democratic Party. I even warned him that I would report his illegal actions to the Prosecutor's Office.

After being warned about his denunciation, the person in question joked with representatives of the Socialist Party and the candidate of this force, who were a few meters away, which confirms that the whole thing was staged and organized to blackmail citizens.

A few minutes before the meeting of the opposition representatives, Jeton Dani, the father of the SP candidate, and his supporters arrived and exercised barbaric violence against the chairman of the Bulqizë PD Forum. To quell the conflict, the chairman of the Bulqizë PD, lawyer Shaqir Manjani, intervened and was hit in the back.
The behavior of the Police raises doubts about their knowledge or involvement in this event, as they not only manipulated the event and spread false information, but also refused to accept the denunciation of the Bulqizë PD leaders.

We call on SPAK to seize camera footage in the area, and to investigate the incident where the chairman and representative of the Bulqizë PD were raped.

The police's involvement in the criminal incident of attacking the opposition is further compounded by the fact that the Dibra Police Director has family ties to Jeton Dani, the father of the Socialist Party candidate.

We call on municipal and police employees not to intimidate and threaten citizens.

We assure the citizens of Bulqiza and all of Dibra that these manipulations by the Socialist Party and the state police will not scare us." /CNA
