The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a conversation with medical students today and emphasized a number of issues related to the field of health.

Berisha stated that the DP aims to double the budget for health and education, adding that the opening of another medical faculty is also planned.

In his speech, Berisha said that the DP pledges to double the salaries of doctors and nurses.

Berisha also focused on problems with old medical equipment, types of medications, and health service parameters.

"Now, this is more or less some data, but we are determined to transform this situation.

First, we will double the budget for health, we will double the budget for education.

Secondly, there will be no doctors or nurses in hospitals if you don't pay them very, very well.

What did Hungary do when Covid hit? It brought the salaries of its doctors close to the Germans, because they were fleeing to Germany. Could the state do this? Absolutely. Of course there is a price, but you will provide the service. You will not provide it by telling them you will stay here after your studies.

You will increase salaries. Until 2013, there were few people leaving. A salary in 2013 had a purchasing power three times greater than a salary today. This has been proven.

So we pledge to double the salaries of doctors and nurses. We will set a minimum salary of 1,500 euros for teachers with the aim of making them feel in function of the great mission they have.

We will have to open another medical faculty. They can't afford it. 1,000 have left this year, imagine when these people retire this year. We are heading towards a terrible depletion of medical personnel.

Therefore, we will, with absolute priority, open a second medical faculty and will try to greatly increase admissions to these two universities in order to respond to this vacuum with very serious consequences for the health of society.

The equipment is simpler. The mafia has obstructed the equipment. What the public sector does not want to have because it short-circuits the private sector.

We have been and are for the private sector, but this sector can only function on the basis of clear standards and rules, but not on the basis of a mafia-like cooperation with the public sector that destroys the healthcare system and severely damages citizens' pockets.

The imagery needs a major revamp.

Hospitals need rebuilding, reconstruction. But there is space.

Albania was the country that could have easily created at least 2,000 beds for Covid, but they were busy looting and not helping the sick.

Once again, I thank you for this meeting and assure you that we will do everything to provide the highest possible level of health service for Albanian citizens.

Without a dignified health service, there can be no Great Albania.

I have emphasized and I emphasize today before you, the list of reimbursable medicines will be identical to the Italian Republic so that these people in need can at least be treated without major financial problems, and be treated with quality medicines, since no medicine will be sold in Albania that is not in circulation in two EU countries.

We had this rule because we did not have the same laboratories as the US and EU to do quality, efficacy, etc. analyses.

Then it's simple, we only import medicines that are sold in two EU countries, that is, those that are approved by the European or American medicines agency.

In this way, we guarantee the quality of medicines, and with the reimbursement list, we make them accessible to everyone.
