January 21/Rama: State crime, the Strasbourg Court overturned the farcical

Prime Minister Edi Rama mentioned this Wednesday the decision of the Strasbourg Court for the killing of Alex Nika by the Guard troops before the government on January 21, 2011.

Rama said at the Assembly of the SP in Dibër that yesterday's decision overturned the farcical process that took place in Albania for January 21.

The head of the government described the killing of 4 protesters on the boulevard as a state crime, while warning that it will not go unpunished.

"The Court of Human Rights issued its decision yesterday, overturning the entire farcical process that took place in Albania on January 21 and underlining what is the most basic in the handling of that event and which would have been handled without question as it was underlines the human rights court from every democratic European country.

The chain of command would have been judged. There is no mention of which of the bullets that came out of the gun slots killed and which did not. There, countless bullets have been fired at protesters who pose no danger to anyone. Therefore, the issue is how is it possible that the state rifles killed citizens of this state. And how is it possible that after the citizens of this country were killed with state rifles as a result of the opening of a fire commanded by the top of the chain, this country did not see any place of fair justice, but only a second re-murder, a humiliation of the families that lost their people. This decision of the Court of Human Rights is the most concrete, freshest embodiment of the expression justice may delay but never forgets.

January 21 is one of those crimes for which the delay in justice may be longer than the most delayed justice. It is one of those crimes that never go unpunished, at any moment no matter how late it is not possible because it is a state crime. It is an illegal government-ordered crime. And this decision is another peak in a new path that has just opened for justice in Albania. On a new path where for the first time since the establishment of the Albanian state, the Albanian people are seeing that as an ordinary citizen as a person clothed in power, no matter how high up the ladder of power they are, they can be equal", emphasized Rama./ CNA
