May 11/ OSCE/ODIHR mission monitors elections, 240 observers on the ground

The head of the OSCE/ODIHR mission, Lamberto Zannier, said that he is closely monitoring the entire electoral process. In a statement to the media, Zannier said that there are a total of 240 observers on the ground and 135 others from OSCE member states and the European Parliament.

The Ambassador emphasized that at a conference the following day, they will provide more details regarding the progress of the electoral process.

Zannier said that it is Albania's commitment that 10% of voting be electronic.

The Ambassador added that electronic voting procedures will also be part of the mission's evaluation.

"We are here to observe the electoral process. This is one of the polling stations where we are today. The OSCE has 240 observers but there are also 135 others who are from OSCE member states, from the European Parliament. Election day is the obvious day of observation but we have been here since the end of March. We have also observed the electoral campaign and today is the last point. Tomorrow we will have a press conference at 15:00. It would not be significant if I gave you an opinion today. I am gathering information and I came to this polling station because it is Albania's commitment that 10% of voting will be electronic. Part of our assessment will also be the electronic voting procedures", - said Zannier. /CNA
