Prostitution scheme revealed/Here's how 'AirBNB' is used by VIP

Prostitution in Albania is illegal, but the 'flourishing' of this activity in Albania has been happening for a long time.

Based on data from the State Police, from January to mid-July, at least 15 police operations were conducted to crack down on prostitution networks in the country.

At least 22 tutors were arrested and 11 others were declared wanted. They now face sentences ranging from 2 to 5 years in prison.

The investigation currently has about 100 foreign girls at large, who were exploited for prostitution. The punishment they could receive is from a fine to 3 years in prison.

Foreign girls exploited for prostitution come from various countries such as: Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela, Ukraine, Russia and China.

One of the popular online sites, such as 'Escort Tirana', is reported to have become a catalyst for the further development of prostitution networks and the entry of young women from abroad.

It is learned that the use of daily 'AirBNB' apartments has become one of the methods of exploiting prostitution in the country.

After some time in Albania, the young women move to neighboring countries such as Greece, North Macedonia, Montenegro or Serbia. /CNA
