Traffic violations in Tirana/ 10 citizens arrested and around 5 thousand fines

Tirana Traffic Police intensifies controls, with the aim of increasing road safety parameters and preventing accidents.

The focus of the checks is to identify and punish citizens who drive vehicles under the influence of alcohol/drunk, and to free spaces occupied by illegally parked/stopped vehicles.

During the last 72 hours, 10 citizens have been arrested/prosecuted, 2 of whom attempted to bribe a police officer to avoid punishment for the violations committed.

As a result of the use of modern logistical tools, 5083 administrative measures have been imposed for various road violations.

Also, 8 vehicles were blocked.

The Tirana Traffic Police Services, in implementation of additional measures taken to increase road safety parameters, have continued checks on various road axes, to identify and punish vehicle drivers who violate road traffic rules or occupy spaces dedicated to the free movement of vehicles.

From the checks carried out during the last 72 hours, 4 drivers have been arrested for driving while intoxicated, 4 drivers for violating road traffic rules and 2 drivers for active corruption against Police officers.

Also, during the inspections, vehicles found parked in the space reserved for buses/taxis were moved with a lifting device.

Checks will continue on all road axes.

The Traffic Police appeals to all drivers to comply with traffic rules and not to obstruct the movement of other vehicles by parking/stopping vehicles in places where it is not allowed. At the same time, it appeals to all citizens to report any case of violation of traffic rules to the toll-free number 112, guaranteeing a rapid response, according to the Traffic Code. /CNA
