The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana clears up the charges/ Why was the former

The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana has reacted to the arrest of the former KLA fighter, Dritan Goxhajt.

Prosecution that the arrest warrant was issued immediately after the Special Prosecution of Kosovo sent a letter.

The former KLA fighter is accused of committing the criminal offenses of "Intimidation during criminal proceedings" and "Obstructing an official in the performance of official duties".

According to the Prosecutor's Office, there is a well-founded suspicion that Goxhaj is facing criminal charges for criminal offenses that fall within the jurisdiction of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo, specifically for intimidation during criminal proceedings and obstruction of official persons in the performance of official duties.

Today, on 31.07.2023, within the framework of the "Request of the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor of Kosovo", the execution of the letter was carried out for the provision of legal assistance to the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor of Kosovo, on account of the criminal proceedings against the citizen DG , for committing the criminal offenses "Intimidation during criminal proceedings" and "Obstructing an official in the performance of official duties", provided by the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kosovo.

The decision of the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana has been executed for the appointment of the measure of personal security with an injunctive character "Arrest in prison" provided by article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure against the citizen DG, for the purpose of extradition, and it is exercise control in his place of residence.

These procedural actions were carried out in fulfillment of the granting of legal aid, because the Single Judge had issued the arrest warrant and ordered his transfer to the custody of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo in the Kingdom of the Low Countries ('host state'). Also, the Single Judge authorized the checking of Mr. DG, of the place of arrest and his place of residence, as well as the seizure of materials during their control ('Order for the Authorization of Control and Seizure').

The Single Judge has established that there is a well-founded suspicion that the citizen DG holds criminal charges for criminal offenses that are included in the jurisdiction of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo, specifically for intimidation during criminal proceedings and obstruction of official persons in the performance of official duties, namely in based on Article 387 and Article 401 of the Criminal Code of Kosovo of 2019 (Law no. 06/L-074), as defined in Article 15(2) of the Law.
