Part of clandestine trafficking network/ 35-year-old Albanian arrested in Italy

An Albanian citizen was arrested by the Asti police in Italy with an international arrest warrant issued by the Court. It is learned that the 35-year-old had a valid residence permit and had lived in the Asti area for at least six years.

The Albanian was regularly employed as a farm worker on a farm in Montaldo Scarampi and lived in the village, not far from his workplace.

Italian media reports that Italian investigators were not only investigating the Albanian, but also believed he was part of an organization that dealt with immigration across the Albanian border, particularly to the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.

The arrest was also confirmed by the Turin Court of Appeal due to the risk of flight, given that the citizen has no particular ties to the province other than his work. Also weighing in on his extradition to Albania is the fact that border records show that he has made numerous trips over the years, a trip that would support the charges brought by the authorities in Tirana.
