Police Operation "Weekend"/ Two young men arrested in Tirana

Police Station No. 7 in Tirana has finalized today a police operation aimed at identifying and cracking down on cases of illegal possession of weapons.

The operation codenamed "Weekend" has caught red-handed and put in handcuffs two citizens: SK, 25 years old and OM, 21 years old, both residents of Laknas, with criminal records for illegal possession of weapons.

They were driving around with silenced pistols in their vehicles.

The firearm, a pistol with a silencer, combat ammunition, the vehicle and 3 cell phones were seized.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.

According to the Police:

"The services of Police Commissariat No. 7, in continuation of the work to identify and crack down on cases of illegal possession of weapons, based on information obtained through intelligence, regarding two citizens who were circulating with firearms in a vehicle, in the Vora area, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Weekend".

During the operation, in Laknas, the Police services located and stopped the vehicle with the driver, citizen SK, and the passenger, citizen OM. During the search in this vehicle, the Police services found 1 firearm, a pistol with a silencer and 1 magazine with combat ammunition, which were seized as material evidence, along with the vehicle.

At the end of the actions, the following citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto:

SK, 25 years old, resident of Laknas, for the criminal offense "Unlicensed production and possession of weapons, explosive weapons and combat ammunition", previously convicted for the same criminal offense;

OM, 21 years old, resident of Laknas, for the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime", - the announcement states. /CNA
