They did not declare 32 thousand euros/ Two people are being prosecuted

Two citizens have been placed under investigation after attempting to smuggle undeclared amounts of money through the Kakavija border crossing to the Greek state.

VB, 11,985 euros and 30,000 lek were found in his bag, while F. I., 20,000 euros were found in his bag.

In total, around 32,000 euros and 30,000 lek were seized.

Police Announcement: 

Kakavija BCP/Detailed checks by Border Police services, 2 cases of non-declaration of funds are detected.     

Approximately 32,000 euros and 30,000 lek were seized, and criminal proceedings were initiated against the 2 citizens who possessed them and did not declare them at the border.    

As a result of the maximum commitment of the Border Police services of the Kakavija BCP to prevent and combat border crimes, in addition to the work of providing a quality and ethical service to citizens entering/exiting, 2 cases of non-declaration of funds have been detected, specifically:       

 

-At the entrance, citizen VB was checked in the second line, and 11,985 euros and 30,000 lek were found in his bag, which he had not declared; 

-At the exit, citizen FI was checked in the second line, and 20,000 euros were found in his bag, which he had not declared. 

 

Following the procedural actions in the case, the Crime Investigation specialists of the DVKM Gjirokastra referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated in a free state for the criminal offense of "Failure to declare money and valuables at the border", for citizens VB, 66 years old, resident in Kuçovë, and FI, 69 years old, resident in Greece.  

 

Also, sums of money were seized as material evidence./ CNA
