In danger from strong waves during canoe trip/ 16 tourists are helped in Vlora

The Vlora Border Police went to the aid of 16 tourists traveling by canoe, on two separate occasions in Palasa and Qeparo, whose lives were endangered due to strong waves.

Also, immediate assistance was provided to a citizen, who had been blown about 4 miles from shore by strong winds while swimming with a lifeboat, in the Drimadhe area.

After receiving reports of two different cases, in Palasa and Qeparo, where tourists traveling by canoe were unable to return to shore due to strong waves as a result of deteriorating weather, the Border Police services in Dhërmi and Himara immediately organized the necessary intervention.

First case – Assistance was provided at Palasa beach, where a couple of tourists who were canoeing found themselves in difficulty due to the waves. The Marine Police Unit services intervened immediately and escorted them to shore, in good health.

Second case – Assistance was provided in Qeparo, where 14 tourists who were in several canoes risked their lives due to bad weather and strong winds. The Border Police intervened with its floating vehicles and made it possible to rescue and escort all the tourists to the shore, without any problems for their health.

Third case – Assistance was provided on Drimadhe beach, where a citizen who was standing in a comerdare, as a result of strong winds had drifted about 4 miles from the coast. After locating her, the Dhërmi Border Police services made it possible to escort her to the shore, in good health. /CNA
