A 35-year-old man, declared internationally wanted, has been arrested in Rrëshen. The citizen with the initials M. Zh. alias MT, was wanted by the authorities in Italy, for participation in a criminal group accused of 71 thefts/attempted thefts (with weapons), in 2023, in apartments in 4 regions of Italy.

In 2024, the Court of Milan ordered the 35-year-old to be held in custody for illegal possession of weapons, robbery with violence and destruction of property, committed as part of a structured criminal group. The police also prosecuted the person who was in the car with the 35-year-old at the time of the arrest.

The Mirdita Police Commissariat is finalizing the police operation codenamed "Mechanism" to capture a citizen declared internationally wanted.

Wanted by authorities in Italy, for participation in a criminal group accused of 71 thefts/attempted thefts (with weapons), in 2023, in apartments in 4 regions of Italy, the 35-year-old is arrested.

The citizen who was driving the vehicle in which he was traveling in Rrëshen, the detainee, is being criminally prosecuted.

The "Benz" type vehicle is seized.

As a result of providing operational information on the location of a citizen wanted by the authorities in Italy, and the exchange of this information with Interpol Rome, through Interpol Tirana, operation "Mechanism" was finalized.

As part of the operation, citizen M. Zh. alias MT, 35 years old, was caught while driving in Rrëshen and provisionally arrested for extradition to Italy.

In 2024, the Court of Milan assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for illegal possession of weapons, violent theft and destruction of property, committed within the framework of a structured criminal group.

Citizen M. Zh. alias MT is accused of having committed 71 burglaries/attempted burglaries in apartments in 4 regions of Italy during 2023, as part of a structured criminal group. In each case, 2-4 members of the group are accused of being armed, committing crimes against property and then fleeing in a vehicle.

Further, following the "Mechanism" operation, criminal proceedings were initiated for the offense of "Supporting the perpetrator of a crime", against the citizen who was driving the vehicle in which the 35-year-old, GN, 37, resident of Mirdita, was traveling.

The procedural materials were referred to the Lezha Prosecutor's Office for further action.
Meanwhile, Interpol Tirana continues to cooperate with its counterparts to finalize the procedure for the extradition of citizen M. Zh. alias MT, to Italy. / CNA
