The mega-operation in Tirana/Drugs was worth 400,000 euros

The Tirana police department has revealed details of the anti-drug operation where several citizens were arrested.

Tonin Vocja, the director of the police, informs that about 11,300 ecstasy tablets worth 400,000 euros have been seized.

According to Vocaj, these citizens, taking advantage of the tourist flow, passed the drug stores via the Pristina-Tirana bus line.

They transferred them by car to the coast, to public places, to places with a flow of people.

In exchange, the traffickers demanded an advance or leave the cars as a pledge.

The details given by Vocaj in a statement to the media

I am here today together with the Deputy Director for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, the Deputy Director for Public Safety and the head of the Narcotics Investigation Sector, to present the results of the coded operation "PUNISHER 2", within which a group that trafficked from Kosovo to Albania and distributed the narcotic ecstasy MDMA was hit.

In January of this year, the coded police operation "PUNISHER" was finalized, in the framework of which a group of distributors of synthetic drugs was hit, 3 citizens were arrested and another was declared wanted, as well as 1007 MDMA ecstasy tablets were seized.

The Local Directorate of the Tirana Police, following successive operations developed for the prevention, identification and attack of criminal activity in the field of narcotics, following in-depth actions in the direction of the investigation of suppliers for the group arrested in January, have fallen into traces of a network that trafficked large quantities of synthetic drugs from Kosovo to Albania.

After a several-month investigation with special investigation methods, by the Specialists of the Narcotics Investigation Sector at the Tirana Local Police Directorate, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, legal evidence was provided to document the criminal activity of this group that consisted of 5 people.

On the basis of the evidence obtained during the investigation, the coded police operation "PUNISHER 2" was organized and finalized, in which the citizens were arrested: Mithat Ramadani, 30 years old, Besnik Mujeci, 40 years old, both residents of Pristina

, as well as

Kalem Picari, 24 years old, Ambra Myftari, 28 years old, and Daniel Avdija, 26 years old, all three living in Tirana.

The arrested citizens were located at the intersection of "Myslym Shyri" and "Sami Frashëri" streets, along with the shipment of suspected narcotics, of 11,300 MDMA ecstasy tablets, weighing 5,093 kg and with a market value of around 400,000 euros.

The investigations showed that these citizens, taking advantage of the flow of the tourist season, passed the shipments through the Pristina-Tirana bus lines.

Once the consignments arrived in Tirana, they were transported by rented cars to Tirana and other cities, mainly coastal ones, and exchange places were designated in public places with a lot of movement and flow of people. In order to reach agreements with the distributors of synthetic drugs in Albania, the traffickers demanded advance payments, or even leaving vehicles as a guarantee.

MDMA ecstasy tablets, along with a quantity of cannabis narcotic substance, a vehicle, as well as 5 mobile devices, were seized as material evidence.

The Local Directorate of the Tirana Police remains maximally engaged to prevent and fight criminal activity in the field of cultivation, production and distribution of light and hard drugs.
