A mega-operation was developed by the German authorities where 35.5 tons of cocaine worth 2.6 billion euros were seized.

It was the biggest ever crackdown on organized drug crime in Germany. With the help of international investigators, customs and police seized 35.5 tons of cocaine worth about 2.6 billion euros!

Seven people were arrested. The mega-quantity of cocaine was safely transported by police tanks to secret storage facilities and then destroyed centrally at a waste incineration plant in Stuttgart.

The mammoth operation was led by the special judicial unit for the prosecution of organized crime in North Rhine-Westphalia (ZeOS NO).

The head of the drug gang was a Turkish citizen. In total there are eight main perpetrators: two Germans (43 and 54 years old), one Albanian (42 years old), one Bulgarian (30 years old), one Moroccan (42 years old), two Turkish (37 and 38 years old) and a Ukrainian (36 years old).

The gang brought cocaine to Europe from Latin America in ten containers with more than 100 companies.

The cocaine was hidden among crates of pineapples, shipments of wood and bags of sesame seeds. Three tons were caught in Ecuador, eight tons in the port of Rotterdam and almost 25 tons in the port of Hamburg.

Seven arrest warrants were executed, and an empty gun and a Glock firearm were seized, as well as five gold bars, cash (value: 23,300 euros) and a Porsche 911 Turbo S (value 250,000 euros)./ CNA
