Checks on road axes in Gjirokastra/ 1837 fines for various violations

Gjirokastra Traffic Police, present 24/7, on all road axes, with the aim of preventing accidents and guaranteeing road safety.

The axes are continuously monitored, with modern logistics equipment, such as automatic radars, quality drones, police scanners and dredgers, with the aim of managing traffic and identifying violations that are a source of accidents or that become obstacles to traffic.

During May, 3 drivers were arrested and 7 others were criminally prosecuted for the criminal offenses of "Irregular driving" and "Violation of traffic rules", and 9 driving licenses were suspended.

A total of 1873 administrative measures have been imposed for various violations of the Road Code, specifically:

 37 measures for not wearing a seat belt;

 6 measures for not wearing a protective helmet;

10 precautions for using a mobile phone while driving;

18 measures for driving under the influence of alcohol;

 595 measures for wrong overtaking;

410 measures for stopping or wrongful standing;

 487 measures for speeding beyond the permitted limits;

 310 measures for other violations of the Road Code.

Checks by the Traffic Police will continue on all urban, interurban and rural road axes, using all modern logistical means, with the aim of meeting road safety parameters.

The Gjirokastra Traffic Police appeals to all drivers to strictly enforce traffic rules, not to overtake incorrectly, not to use a mobile phone while driving, and not to drive under the influence of alcohol or while intoxicated. /CNA
